WMC wraps up in Miami today. To commemorate here is the tune that had the biggest buzz going into the conference. Arno Cost sits atop the DMC Buzz Chart for a second week with this progressive house EPIC!
As a refreshing change of pace here is 22 yr old Nathan Williams aka Wavves, offering up some lo-fi surf / noise / punk sounds. I'm not a big fan of noise rock (i.e. Health & No Age), but this track is pretty spectacular. Its a great morning coffee tune.
This tune caught my ear while watching the excellent East Bound And Down. Besides scoring Rockstar Games' Bully, he has three albums coming out in 2009. First up is Soul In The Hole on Mar 10th and judging by this tune (which I completely missed the first time round) hes one to watch. Do yourself a favour and put this on repeat.
Media passes to the Evan Biddell and Lucian Matis runway shows and VIP BAR at LG Fashionweek. $0.
Guestlist and line bypass (it went around the frigging block!) to the Cut Copy show @ Circa. $0.
Praying to the porcelain gods till 7am. priceless.
Anyway, as I lay here recovering, here's a club MONSTER of a tune to get you in the mood 4da weekend...
Laurent Wolf climbs up from #16 to #4 on the DMC Club Charts this week. Getting in the charts is one thing, making a 12 spot climb and holding is another. Sure Wolf is a pretty boy euro house commercial hit maker, that said he is terribly talented and this one is fun.
This is a rather uptempo offering from UK act, Loner. They really left the lounge with this track and moved into the that sweet "indie dance pop" sound. I say go for broke and release more material in this vein.
Whats this a new Peaches tune that's SFW? Wow. Talk to Me is supposedly produced by Soulwax and is much more accessible than a lot of her previous work.
Judging by the red band trailer Observe & Report looks to be a surprise gem coming out this April. Director Jody Hill (dir. Foot Fist Way) asks the question cinema has long pondered, "What if Taxi Driver was a dark comedy set in a mall?". The trailer is super and features this classic progressive rock tune by UK band, Patto...
Sigh. I miss Electric Circus. Large commercial house production here, featuring Deborah Lee. Tongs all over this, so naturally everyone else is as well.
The Big Pink's tune Velvet enters the DMC Zzub Chart at #14 this week, but this dark, somber, massive hit will be climbing much higher rest assured! The band recently Won NME's Philip Hall Radar award for best newcomer (Glasvegas took it last year). The award is voted on by NME’s staff and is named in honour of the late manager of The Stone Roses. Heres the official video
