#1 Animal Collective
"My Girls"
Easiest choice ever. It's my ringtone FCS. It's psychedelic beach boy melodies drove pitchfork indie kids wild and as an added bonus it actually is enjoyable to listen to! I can still remember the first time hearing this as I seriously think it triggered an acid flashback! I was downtown, it was snowing. I spaced out, walked into traffic and began crying. ha-ha. Just kidding. It wasn't snowing.

#2 Florence & the Machine
"Dog Days Are Over"
Best song off the album. Truthfully, I liked all the live/demo stuff more than the final album. Specifically I am thinking of how overproduced "My Boy Builds Coffins" turned out, the fact that "Hospital Beds" wasn't included or how they thought that "U Got The Love" could ever be improved upon (I learned along time ago that ladies named Candi are not to be trifled with. They will mess you up!). Besides all this, Florence still manages to snag the #2 spot on the countdown because lady has got lungs and "Dog Days" is spectacular! (as is "Girl With One Eye" & "Rabbit Heart" I might add)

#3 La Roux
"In For The Kill (Skream’s Get Ravey Remix)"
J'adore la pompadour! First of all the WHOLE album is Great! 12 tracks of 80s pop glory! For reals people. Buy it for "Colourless Colour", "Armour Love", "Tigerlily", "Quicksand" and of course "I’m Not Your Toy" . The original version of "In For The Kill" is actually one of the weakest tracks on the album! The only reason it is at #3 on the countdown is because Skream's darker dubstep interpretation is simply fantastic!

#4 The Big Pink
"Velvet"
Great band. Ridiculous name. I mean I cannot suggest it to a woman without getting:
a. punched
b. slapped, or
c. exactly what I am usually after all along; a date. It's inuendous!

#5 Bombay Bicycle Club
"Dust On the Ground"
Wow. he looks about 12. I didn't expect that. What tragedy befell him to lower his voice so? Someone didn't love him enough.

#6 Chew Lips
"Salt Air"
Hooky catchy pop with attitude. I cannot verbalize why the heck I love this song so much, or why I want to describe the vocalist, Tigs, as a female Mick Jagger.

#7 Matt & Kim
"Daylight"
Great pop music. Period. They won an MTV video award for "Lessons Leaned" which featured graphic and permit-less, public nudity. I was understandably disgusted. So I instead chose this other song of theirs called "Daylight" which has a much more PG-13 video, so as not to offend anyone (especially our younger readers). Don't worry pervs. I snuck a singing vagina video into post #25

#8 Jack Peñate
"Tonight's Today"
Produced by hit maker Paul Epworth (Florence, Friendly Fires, Bloc Party...) This second album totally saved Jack from having to sex people for money. Bravo you magnificent bastard. You managed to use that pretty mouth for something respectable after all. All his singles ("Pull my Heart Away", "Tonight's Today" and "Be The One") sound the same so I chose "Tonight Today" for the countdown as it was the first single off the album.

#9 The Kindness
"Swinging Party"
Who the f are "The Kindness"? Severely perfect song and no ones around to take credit for it. Typical. Just another poor little b word. Wait... I googled it and apparently his name is Adam Bainbridge. Poor fella has prolly got warrants. Can’t risk leaving the house I guess.

#10 Crystal Fighters
"Xtatic Truth"
Kitsuné (record label) has this indie punk-pop-dance sensibility/philosophy, and this tune is the perfect embodiment of that. Plus it is great to run to; I would suppose.

#11 The Horrors
"Who Can Say"
If the White Lies is the new Killers then The Horrors is the New Strokes. These guys have got seriously funnier hairdos than the chick from Tokio Hotel. My guess is they don’t have time to comb their hair cause damn it they work. 2 albums. 3 years. Take that Harlem Shakes!

#12 White Lies
"Death"
The White Lies deliver the album The Killers were supposed to. Congrats to you! Didn't quite make the mmu Top 10, however. Shame. I can still remember the last White Lies concert I went to. It was just me and legions of 12 year old girl fans. We all just cheered and cheered and threw our panties on stage and of course told our parents that Jessica was having a sleep over at her house that night.
#13 Fever Ray
"Triangle Walks (Rex the Dog Remix)"
The lengths some people will go to to keep their shinny new indie cred. Take for instance known offender and all-around dirty trickster, Karin Dreijer Andersson (aka Fever Ray) (aka lead vocalist The Knife). This lady has got priors! Big ones. Why do you think they used to call her The Knife? I wonder what new moniker she will be back with next year? You can't keep tricking the indie scenesters, darling, they're gonna know it's you again. I think she ought to combine 'em and call herself "Knife Fever." Also, Rex the Dog again reminds us that his shit has some powerful stink. Good-boy!

#14 VV Brown
"Shark in the Water (Blame Remix)"
Blame makes a textbook classic DnB tune. Wish there were more than 8 DnB producers left in the wild. Extinction is sad even when it doesn't affect whats for dinner. Now can any one tell me what "Electro House" would be in this analogy? I was looking for "beef". I would have also accepted "chicken".

#15 The Gossip
"Love Long Distance"
She’s maybe the only female vocalist that can take Florence down in a singing fight. Beth always comes armed with that Stevie Nicks essence that can probably win-out. FYI: The Gossip have been around since 1999! "Music For Men" is an excellent album and their strongest material yet. "Love Long Distance", "Heavy Cross", "Dimestore Diamond", plus the remixes (Fake Blood, Fred Falke...) are all EXCELLENT!
#16 Miike Snow
"Black and Blue"
What is up with the proliferation of Swedish pop? Is it a cultural thing? Lars' father teaches him how to make pop music just like his father before that and his father before that AND in ENGLISH to boot! Sounds sinister to me. Some sort of dirty Swedish plot me thinks. But I swear no matter how weird or douchey the Swedes dress it up, it's always SPECTACULAR! Remember ABBA!? Again English! Second! language!

#17 Starsailor
"Tell Me It's Not Over (Thin White Duke Remix)"
Thin White Duke is Stuart Price is Jacques Lu Cont is Les Rythmes Digitales is Madonnas saviour is Zoot Woman. It's easiest to describe his musical style as "future". And yeah Starsailor they're OK too. Actually they are great but for some reason they are a perfect fit with Stuart Price. They go together like cocaine and more cocaine. Need more proof? Look to their last co-mingling "Four To The Floor (The Thin White Duke Remix)".
#18 Filthy Dukes
"Messages (Rusty Egan Remix)"
Love the name. 2 tracks in the countdown. nuf said.
#19 Wave Machines
"Keep The Lights On"
I instantly adored this one. They're from Liverpool they got hair on their balls and they make pop music. The end.
